Blogging
Blogging is a great way to share your knowledge with the world and help you to express your thoughts in a creative way. Personally, I love it. Even if I didn’t make a dime, it is a great creative outlet for me!
But wouldn’t it be even better if you could make money while you did it?
Try this Fast Track To Blogging Course, it will definitely help teach you what you need to know to get started today!
You can also read my post How to Start a Blog with these Simple Steps to get you started as well.
Surveys
An easy way to score some extra green is by taking online surveys. I’m sure you are thinking…right…those are scams. And while yes, some of them are…I’m going to give you the ones that have worked for me!
These will not allow you to quit your day job but they can score you a little extra for very little work.
This one is great! You don’t have to just do surveys, you can watch videos and play games to earn and you get a sign-on bonus.
It pays between $5-$25 for surveys. You can participate in interviews and product testing which pays various amounts. You can get a payout after you have $10 in your account. They will pay you in gift cards or PayPal.
Swagbucks lets you watch videos, take surveys, play games or shop online to earn points that are redeemed for cash or gift cards. You can get a payout after 2500 points which are $25. This can be by PayPal or gift cards.
Inbox Dollars pays members to read emails, take surveys online, play games, and go shopping! New users also receive $5 just for joining.
Real Surveys that Pay lets you earn cash taking surveys! Sign up with Real Surveys That Pay to get access to surveys, trial offers, and questionnaires that pay out cash for completion. Get paid how you want – gift cards, Paypal, or a check straight to your door.
Course Creation
If there is something you are good at…create a course! Teach it to others and make some extra money while you do it!
Udemy is a great website for you to create a course to share or even find one to take. There are thousands of opportunities there.
Anything you can possibly think of is available and there is the potential to sell your course for $150 or more. The courses are video but you can add any document for your client that can help them along.
Amazon FBA
If you like to find deals (which I do), then you should give Amazon FBA a try. Setting up an account is super easy and you can get started by doing what’s called “retail arbitrage”. You can read about what it is and how easy it is to do it HERE.
You can also look into private labeling HERE. One of the doctors I work with is currently working on a baby product to sell on amazon. I will update as soon as she launches and gets things moving!
Mystery Shopping
What is a mystery shopper? It is someone who shops for a company to provide market research. As a mystery shopper will be responsible for fulfilling certain tasks.
So you are pretty much performing market research.
They will want to know if the employees helped you, was the store clean or how your checkout experience was.
Does this seem like something you are interested in? Try one of these:
Teaching or Tutoring
Are you a stay at home mom that has a teaching degree or even if you don’t give QKids a try. The lessons are planned out for you so no prepping is involved. You will be teaching English to kids in China.
It’s super flexible and they are easy to work with. They pay rate isn’t as good as the next one I’ve mentioned but if you don’t have a degree, this is the one to try.
Another one to consider is VIPKid. All you need is a bachelor’s degree and most of the classes are at night.
Just like with Qkids, the lessons are prepared for you which makes it easy. They do prefer that you have some teaching experience.
VIPKid pays higher than QKids but that’s because they require a degree and prefer some experience.
Virtual Assistant
Virtual assistants are like regular office assistants but online. You will answer emails, schedule meetings, answer phone calls and manage social media accounts.
Performing basic admin duties as well as creating content can also be included. You can make anywhere from $14 an hour to upwards of $45-50 an hour.
This would be a great work from home opportunity!
If you have a blog and are just getting started, hop into the VA world to help you earn some cash. You might even make some serious connections that can help boost your own blog.
Graphic Design
Have you heard of UpWork or Fiver? If you have then you know that you can get hired to design graphics.
You need to show some of your work for potential clients to pick you but once you do you can charge whatever you want. Most charge $20 or more depending on the size of the projects.
I have hired people for design through Fiver!
Proofreading
Do you have an eye for grammatical, punctuation or spelling errors? Then proofreading may be for you.
Many writers out there will pay to have someone go over their stuff.
Check out this post on Proofreading to get all the deets!
You could even score a job proofing for a major company.
Online Translator
If you know a foreign language, then translating may be for you.
Try Word Express, they are a major company that translates for several large companies so there is always an opportunity to work.
You can also check out Upwork for available opportunities.
User Testing
Wouldn’t you love to get paid to test out apps or play games before they are released? Try UberTesters and get started testing things out for cash.
Other sites you can try as well are
Testing would be a great work from home gig and it sounds fun! If you tested websites, all you have to do is give feedback as you go along…I could do that!
Transcriber
To be a transcriber, you have to listen to audio files and type what is said. Sounds easy right?
Well, its not quite that simple. Do you think Doctor’s handwriting is bad…try transcribing an audio file from a doctor with a thick accent or broken english.
You can still give it a try, you just might not make as much in the beginning because most pay per audio hour which isn’t the same as paying her hour worked.
Some audio files may be an hour but take 4 or 5 hours to transcribe.
I feel confident that after seeing these 12 work from home setups that there is one you can give a try today.

What a great variety of work from home opportunities! And I like that it is not only blogging or surveys, which is often all you tend to read about on other sites!
Thank You Jenny! I agree, some don’t always consider that not everyone wants to blog or take surveys!
I have done mystery shops and surveys in the past. I find they are time-consuming and limited in what you can make. I know these are generally for extra income but still, the time it takes makes it less than ideal for me personally. User Testing peaks my interest!
Thank you for your input, I do surveys when I am bored knowing that I will not make a ton. I haven’t tried user testing but it is something I am going to try.
Blogging has been my best one yet. I have not had much luck with surveys because I am not their target demographic but so far so good with blogging. I also have a friend who did transcription as a full time job for a while. Great list.
Thank you Stacy! They are not all for everybody and everyone’s personalities are different. I just aim to strike the interest of one or maybe two. 😉
I did mystery shopping for a while, is it still a thing with the internet being the largest way to purchase these days? I love Amazon and the passive income it creates for bloggers.
It is still a thing. I do it too. It’s just for a little extra cash from time to time. There are still so many big stores and companies out there that need input. You can even find mystery shopping gigs for restaurants and amusement parks!
Really nice article! I am always on the hunt for work from home jobs. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, even if its a few quick bucks, anything helps!
There are a few work from home opportunities on this list that I want to explore more in the future such as being a virtual assistant, proofreading and Amazon FBA. So many ways to make money from home these days. Thanks for this list!
I agree. I have tried Amazon FBA and it works! Goodluck!
Didn’t even think about transcribing! Great idea
I know- there are tons of free courses to learn how as well.
I always like checking out lists like this, even though I tend to be familiar with most of the ideas. Your list had several new ones I’d never heard of! The user testing ones were one of those, as well as the mystery shopping sites. I have done mystery shopping over a decade ago, so these companies were new to me.
Great list!
Thank you so much! Glad you found a new one. I’m always looking for new side hustle ideas.
This is sound advice! I know this isn’t necessarily at home, but I would definitely add Airbnb and/or Airbnb Experiences! I used to give people tours of my neighborhood (Notting Hill)! I got my daily walk in whilst showing people around making money ha!
yes! Thank you- that’s awesome advice!!
Love the variety of opportunities. I have always wondered about surveys and Swagbucks, Thanks for the info.
No problem. Yea, you can’t expect a lot from the surveys but when you are just sitting around with nothing to do it works.
I found some nice ideas of working from home that I’ve never thought of here. Thanks so much for sharing.
I’m so glad I could help!
Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback!
